For many of us, the arrival of yet another phone book is met with a “sigh.” Do we really need/want all these phone books? So, I was happy to read in a recent Denver Post column by Penny Parker on how to opt out of phone book deliveries. The good news: it was easy to do. The bad news: they say that neither company book delivery will be blocked until the end of the year or the beginning of the next.
Here’s how it works: Go to dexknows.com and scroll down to the bottom of the home page; click on “Select Your Dex,” type in your ZIP code, which will bring you to a page asking for your address. The drop-down menu will let you select publications you want to receive, how many (0-3), or let you opt out completely (select “0” in the drop down box).
The Yellow Book, which has been publishing directories for nearly 80 years, will let you opt out by going to www.yellowpagesoptout.com.
