The FAX Partnership is beginning 2010 on a high note, having recently secured a grant from the City and County of Denver’s Office of Economic Development to fund a variety of business assistance and economic development efforts. Thanks to support from funders like OED and our great communities, The FAX Partnership has made significant steps in revitalizing East Colfax from Colorado Blvd. to Yosemite St. This includes hosting the Feast on The FAX the second week in June and First Tuesdays on The FAX, providing direct assistance to over 100 businesses and working extensively on programs like Main Street zoning and reaching out to potential developers.
Over the last two years, we have been able to raise funds to hire additional staff. This has has helped our efforts in supporting projects like the upcoming Phoenix on The FAX mixed-use development at Colfax and Oneida. But this project is just the tip of the iceberg.
The FAX Partnership Board has determined that the most viable means of moving forward is to create a Business Improvement District (BID). The funding from OED will help our board and staff work with property and business owners to leverage their resources to grow together in these tough economic times. The FAX BID will be a public/private partnership that assesses itself to provide marketing, business development, improved safety and cleanliness, physical improvements and energy efficiency programs to The FAX corridor from Colorado to just past Quebec St., including potentially the Mayfair Town Center.
Residences are not included in this district, but community members are a critical component to the continued success of our local businesses. Thanks to their support, we are able to offer programs and initiatives to reenergize The FAX, as well as continue to make it a corridor that reflects the outstanding communities that surround it.
